Artist's Comments

This illustration was inspired by some of the sketches of the Old Masters, Leonardo da Vinci in particular. I love the look and feel of the old portraits that were done in charcoal or pastels, and I got the inspiration to create a piece that had that same feeling. By working with sepia brown pencils on matching paper, I have achieved the look I wanted. It was a lot of fun and I may do more of these.

i like how beautiful and serene she is. You chose wisely the old masters. Those wings are harmonious with the rest of the picture. And the sepia color fits very well

Thank you very much! I was very please with the way the sepias turned out, I think it had a lot to do with the paper I used, it added to them.

That's really breathtaking, she's so beautiful in a classic way. The wings are done really well, they look really clean and distinct. I especially love her face, it's like she knows something we don't! I wonder what it could be.....
